The pairing of saxophonist Schofield and pianist Chisnall scores high on melodic sensitivity.
Their impeccable, insinuating sound - deployed on beautiful standards like Little Girl Blue or contemporary gems from without (Everybody's Song But My Own) and within the local jazz community (Neutral Tones and Rhoda Jean) - flows back and forth between the duettists, so well-matched in lyricism and eloquence.

Hebden Water is well named - with Schofield's floating sax phrases guided by Chisnall's shifting undercurrents.
Beautiful but never wispy - the music is too firmly grounded for that. One of the pinnacles of homegrown jazz, and so one of the pinnacles of national jazz too. A classic of chamber jazz
